Wellness & Counseling Supports

HCPSS and Homewood Center promotes the mental health and wellness of each of our students to develop their unique strengths, abilities, and characteristics towards success and well-being. Staff consider the variety of factors that impact a student’s functioning such as age, cultural background, social emotional skills, academic outcomes, and access to resources.

A broad continuum of counseling services is available for students enrolled at Homewood Center. Students have the opportunity to receive individual and group counseling, learn and practice mindfulness and other self care strategies. These services are provided by full-time Homewood staff members, as well as community mental health providers. In addition, Homewood Center's school counselors assist students with meeting their educational goals and work with students on developing educational plans.

Community mental health services are provided to students at Homewood through service providers hired contractually through the Howard County Public School System. These services include individual, group, and family supports and interventions. The services are voluntary, cost free, and are open to all students at Homewood.
