Overview
Momentum Academy is a structured 45-day program serving up to 20 middle school students each quarter. It is designed to provide the time, support, and intentional instruction needed for students to rebuild momentum in order to be successful in their home school environment. The program creates a small, supportive learning community where students can strengthen both academic and social-emotional skills while building the confidence needed for long-term success in school.
Students participate in the four academic core content courses (ELA, History, Science, Math), along with PE/Health and daily Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Through small-group instruction and targeted support, students stay connected to grade-level content while building academic engagement and essential skills such as flexible thinking, self-regulation, perseverance, and problem-solving through productive struggle.
- 6th grade program: Designed to launch students into middle school by strengthening foundational academic habits, organization, and self-regulation.
- 7th grade program: Designed to provide students with an opportunity for a reset to address challenges, rebuild routines, and reestablish positive learning behaviors.
- 8th grade program: Designed to propel students toward high school by reinforcing the academic and social-emotional skills needed for a successful transition.
At the end of the quarter (45 days) a Student Support Transition Team meeting is held to review the student’s progress and develop a coordinated plan for their return to the home school setting. Momentum Academy staff will provide in-person push-in support during the student’s first week back at their home school, helping students apply the strategies they have learned and ensuring a smoother transition back into a larger school environment.
