UPDATE 1/21/2025 7:30 PM:
A systemwide email from HCPSS was sent this evening:
All Howard County public schools will open two hours late Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, due to freezing temperatures and overnight refreezing. School bus pick up times will be two hours later than normal. All morning childcare programs in HCPSS schools, sponsored by the Columbia Association and the Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks, will be delayed two hours.
There is no half-day Pre-K/RECC on Wednesdays so that program is not impacted. Additional information on RECC and Pre-K can be found online.
High schools were scheduled for an early dismissal, which is now canceled. High school students instead will go in on the two-hour delay and schools will dismiss at their standard time of 2:35 p.m. An adjusted exam schedule for Jan. 22 can be found below.
Offices will open late. Details on staff reporting can be found online.
We will reevaluate conditions by 7:30 a.m. and only a change in the two-hour delay status will be communicated.
